Cecily O’Regan is a founding attorney of Vitruvian IP Law LLC and a registered patent attorney with more than 25 years of experience helping technology-driven companies transform innovation into durable, revenue-generating intellectual property assets. As an “innovation architect,” she draws on deep Silicon Valley experience at firms and companies such as Morrison & Foerster, Wilson Sonsini, Hewlett Packard, and Agilent Technologies to design IP structures that support fast growth, investment, and successful exits.
Cecily’s practice centers on emerging technologies, including medical devices, biometrics, software, clean technologies, and related digital health and life science innovations—spaces where early stage companies need IP that is both strategically sound and execution ready. At Vitruvian IP Law, she brings a modern Renaissance approach to practice, integrating legal analysis, technology fluency, and business acumen so founders get a single, cohesive view of how IP fits into product, market, and funding milestones.
Cecily focuses on worldwide patent strategy and portfolio development grounded in meticulous craftsmanship and a deep understanding of each client’s business and industry sector. Known for rolling up her sleeves with inventors and in house teams, Cecily works to identify the “essential geometry” of an innovation—what truly differentiates it in the marketplace—and then builds patent and IP strategies that protect that competitive edge across key jurisdictions. Clients rely on her for plainspoken counseling on freedom-to-operate, investment and M&A due diligence, and IP positioning for licensing, strategic partnerships, and exits.
An entrepreneur as well as an advocate, Cecily brings the perspective of an inventor to her work, with eight issued patents and multiple patent publications in the medical device and software fields. That experience informs her hands-on approach: she treats every matter as if it were her own, insisting on clear drafting, rigorous prior art analysis, and cohesive global filing strategies that can stand up under scrutiny from competitors, acquirers, and investors alike. She has been consistently recognized among the IAM Patent 1000: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals and as a World Intellectual Property Review (WIPR) Leader, reflecting both peer and client respect for her judgment and craftsmanship.
Cecily is admitted to practice law in multiple U.S. jurisdictions and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and has experience coordinating cross-border portfolios. She is an active participant in leading IP and technology law organizations and is a frequent speaker and teacher on IP strategy, and the business of innovation.

Jeong Hee Seo brings a rare combination of hands-on engineering experience and deep patent law expertise to Vitruvian IP — and a genuine passion for helping inventors and innovators protect what they've built.
Before becoming an attorney, Jeong spent four years as a Technical Product Support Engineer at Applied Materials, one of the world's leading semiconductor equipment companies, where he developed real-world fluency in thin films, physical vapor deposition (PVD), and advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes. That technical foundation isn't just background — it's the lens through which he reads every patent claim, understands every invention disclosure, and crafts every argument before the USPTO.
Jeong holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law. He is a Registered Patent Attorney admitted to practice before the USPTO, and he is bilingual in English and Korean — an asset for clients with international operations or innovation teams.
His career spans the full range of patent practice environments: he has worked as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO (giving him an insider's perspective on how applications are reviewed), as a patent agent in Seoul, South Korea, and as a patent attorney at respected firms including Seed IP Law Group, and Buchalter, as well as in-house as Senior IP Counsel at Ofinno. That breadth means he understands patent strategy from every angle — prosecution, portfolio management, and client-side decision-making.
As a Founding Attorney of Vitruvian IP, Jeong is committed to providing thoughtful, responsive, and technically sophisticated patent counsel to clients who deserve an attorney who truly gets their technology. Whether you are filing your first patent application or building out a complex IP portfolio, Jeong is the kind of partner who will be with you every step of the way.

Kristyn's practice centers on copyright clearance, licensing, and the reuse of creative and research materials across publishing, education, and digital platforms — including large-scale portfolio clearance projects involving hundreds of works. She advises universities and academic institutions, authors, musicians, software developers, and brand owners on cross-border copyright and trademark matters, and regularly negotiates and drafts licenses, advises on registration strategy, and supports enforcement matters including DMCA take downs and U.S. Customs and Border Protection recordations. She has also represented clients before the U.S. Copyright Claims Board and is a frequent speaker on international and online intellectual property issues.
Kristyn's academic credentials are as distinctive as her practice. She holds a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Michigan, and an MA in Copyright Law from King's College London — one of the world's leading centers for IP scholarship. She is also conversant in Swedish, making her a natural fit for clients with European connections.
Her awards speak to a career built on intellectual rigor: she received the prestigious 2016 Ladas Memorial Award, the Loyola Law Review Best Casenote and Best Comment Awards, and earned the highest grade in Patent Law during her legal studies. She has published widely, including work on copyright small claims, the work-for-hire doctrine, and products liability in the context of autonomous vehicles.
Before co-founding Vitruvian IP, Kristyn served as a judicial law clerk at both the Michigan Supreme Court and the Michigan Court of Appeals, giving her a nuanced understanding of how courts think about IP disputes. As a Founding Attorney of Vitruvian IP, Kristyn is dedicated to translating intricate copyright and trademark law into clear, practical guidance — so her clients can move forward with confidence, whether they are launching a brand, licensing creative content, or protecting their work on a global stage.

Patrick T. O'Regan, Jr. is the kind of advisor every entrepreneur wishes they had in their corner — someone who has actually built a company from the ground up, navigated the funding landscape, and lived the challenges that founders face every day. At Vitruvian IP, Patrick provides free support and coaching to entrepreneurs, helping them think strategically about their ventures, their intellectual property, and how to position themselves for investment success.
Patrick's entrepreneurial credentials are genuine. He founded Nobska Technologies, a cleantech venture focused on water treatment and reuse, served as its CEO for over a decade, and is himself a named inventor on U.S. Patent No. 8,246,829. That firsthand experience — developing IP strategy, executing regulatory filings, and building a company from concept to operating facility — gives him an uncommon ability to understand exactly where founders are coming from and what they need.
For nearly twelve years, Patrick served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Management, teaching Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurial Strategy & Planning, New Venture Launch Practicum, and Leadership for Entrepreneurs. He also coached USF's Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) team, whose members won the Entrepreneur's Choice Award in 2014 — a testament to his ability to prepare founders and early-stage teams to communicate their vision compellingly to investors. He co-authored Intellectual Property: Overview and Strategies for Entrepreneurs: A Silicon Valley Perspective, further cementing his role as a trusted guide for the startup community.
His academic background is equally impressive. Patrick holds a B.A. in Economics from Brown University, a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, an MBA with an emphasis in International Finance from Trinity College Dublin, and an LLM in Technology, Innovation and the Law from the University of Edinburgh. That combination of legal training, business education, and international perspective makes him uniquely equipped to advise entrepreneurs on the intersection of IP, corporate strategy, and funding.
Patrick is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and was formerly a licensed Solicitor in the Senior Courts of England and Wales. He spent over two decades as a partner at O'Regan & O'Regan, counseling technology, cleantech, and financial services companies on the Cape Cod "Silicon Sandbar."
Whether you are a first-time founder trying to understand how IP fits into your pitch deck, or an established entrepreneur preparing for a funding round, Patrick brings the mentorship, the real-world experience, and the strategic insight to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
